As a valued member of our team, the Dispatch manager will efficiently plan and coordinate ready mixed driver schedules, ensuring timely and accurate arrivals to jobs.  The Dispatch manager will communicate with clients, sales team, plant managers and drivers to problem-solve, address scheduling conflicts, resolve logistical challenges, and optimize routes to ensure smooth operations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, hours to be determined.  Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour based on experience

Essential Functions:
  • Develop daily schedules for ready mixed drivers, considering factors such as delivery locations, traffic conditions, and project deadlines.
  • Coordinate with sales representatives and plant managers to align delivery schedules with customer orders and construction timelines.
  • Provide drivers and plant managers with essential information such as delivery times, customer requirements, changes or delays and safety protocols for the day.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives to understand orders, delivery specifications, and any special requirements.
  • Assign drivers to specific delivery routes and ensure drivers receive their work schedule for the next day in a timely manner. 
  • Dispatch drivers efficiently, considering factors such as driver availability, vehicle capacity, and delivery priorities.
  • Utilize route planning software or tools to optimize delivery routes and minimize travel times, fuel consumption, and vehicle wear and tear.
  • Adjust routes as needed to accommodate changes in customer orders or traffic conditions.
  • Monitor the progress of delivery operations throughout the day, tracking driver locations, delivery statuses, and any deviations from the planner schedule.
  • Address any issues or delays promptly to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, logistical challenges, or other issues that may arise during the day.
  • Make quick and informed decisions to adapt to changes in circumstances and minimize disruptions to the delivery process.
  • Keep accurate records of driver assignments and any deviations from the planned schedule.
  • Generate reports on delivery performance, including metrics such as on-time delivery rates, driver productivity, and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Provide guidance and training to customer service representatives as needed. 
Non-Essential Duties:
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Create and maintain a positive, safe, and effective work environment.
  • Provide administrative support to the operations team as needed.   
  • Perform other tasks as required.
Competencies:
·         Logistical proficiency, ability to effectively plan and coordinate driver schedules, considering factors like customer requirements.
·         Strong communication skills – verbal and written communication.
·         Problem-solving ability, capacity to identify scheduling conflicts, logistical challenges, or unexpected events.
·         Attention to detail, to ensure accurate scheduling, proper documentation, and to minimize errors and potential disruptions.
·         Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, and maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or relevant field, preferred.
  • 3+ years of dispatching experience, preferably in a construction/transportation related environment.
  • Experience in a scheduling, logistics or dispatching role is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software or transportation management systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred.
